Dual Element Ribbon

Unlike most ribbon motors designed today with an offset ribbon element the new Cascade 731R houses a hand-tuned dual ribbon element motor that incorporates the legendary symmetrical ribbon design. This design offers a true figure 8 pattern. The corrugated aluminum membrane itself is positioned in the center from front to back, thus producing a balanced audio input signal to both sides of the ribbon assembly. This design is very useful when executing a mid-side or Blumlein recording set-up and also great for live stage use.

The 731R utilizes the same ribbon motor and transformer as the DR-2. The difference is in the radical Deco style frame and body.

As with all ribbon type microphones, the 731R is not suitable for instruments that produce air-pressure, i.e. kick drum or blowing directly into the grill.

The 731R Does Not require or want Phantom power (Phantom power can damage the ribbon).

A pop-filter is recommended for vocals or any instrument that produces air-pressure.
