Diamond Counter Point Multi-Tap
[counterpoint]
$329.00

Diamond is known to not mess around when it comes to delays. Its Memory Lane series, especially the 2, is widely regarded as the pinnacle of the effect. Now, years later, we have the Counter Point, Diamond’s latest and greatest delay foray.

The Counter Point offers four modes:

Vintage: This delay is much like the tap delay in the Quantum Leap, but it’s been tweaked. The new algorithm uses a technique Diamond calls “sample smear” which flattens out transient signal peaks for a more analog sounding echo.

Galloping Eights: A tribute to ‘80s dotted eighth delay, the Galloping Eighths mode combines a dotted eighth delay with a quarter-note repeat that sits lower in the mix. With these two delay lines combined, a much richer delay signal is achieved, and when modulation is engaged, interesting frequency interactions are achieved.

Ambient: The signal is split into three different delay lines which are voiced to avoid overlap. Think of this mode as a “fractal” of delay lines—one echo becomes two, two becomes four, and so on. This allows a really neat wash of signal that blurs the line between delay and reverb.

Extra Faux Tape: EFT mode is meant to emulate a tape echo, but one that doesn’t exist, hence the “Extra Faux” label. The mode offers clean repeats, but the modulation runs at the same speed as the repeats, which, combined with a “glitchy” modulation algorithm, creates strange quirks and blips as the modulation control is increased.

Additionally, Diamond has devised a multitude of clever devices on the pedal: The LED on the On/Off side will blink in time with the tapped signal, and the LEDs will appear steady yellow when the battery is low. The coolest “hidden” feature of the Counter Point is that the knobs save their settings when scrolling through modes. This alleviates the need to re-adjust knobs when a new mode is entered.

Features:

  • Accepts 9v power, 70mA maximum
  • Accepts 9v battery
  • Four delay modes
  • Selectable true bypass/trails modes
  • User can view tap rate via LED
  • High quality Panasonic capacitors and 0.5 percent resistors
