Who would have thought that anyone could improve on – let alone revolutionize – a solid concept like the lapsteel? Only Duesenberg! As is well known, out of the classic lapsteel came the pedalsteel, whereby a player influences the pitch of individual strings through the use of levers and pedals. Country music is practically unthinkable without pedalsteel, while lapsteel – the most widely distributed type of electric guitar in the 40s and ‘50s – still crops up on occasion in certain musical niches.

But that might soon change, because the Duesenberg Pomona 6 combines the best of both lapsteel and pedalsteel in one simple to use instrument with fat sound and – thanks to the Duesenberg Multibender System – lever-adjustable string tension that can produce typical pedal steel sounds!

The freely configurable Multibender is operated with a balled up playing hand. Up to six levers (one per string) are mountable. Furthermore the integrated capo, which runs along a track on the aluminum fretboard, enables freedom of movement between all keys without sacrificing the typical lapsteel riffs and licks that rely on open strings. A roll nut provides tuning stability, while Duesenberg Little Toaster pickups deliver a clear and powerful sound that goes excellently well with distortion pedals or distorting amps. And: Duesenberg Speed pot controls work with a path of just 70˚ (normally it would be 180˚) in order to achieve the lapsteel’s typical swelling “wah” effects.

Duesenberg lapsteel guitars come with Duesenberg DSL 16 strings (016 – 018 – 126 – 036 – 046 – 056), which are also available at all Duesenberg retailers or through our online shop. Standard factory tuning is D-A-D-F#-A-D.
