The original Pinnacle (2) evolved into the pinnacle over the span of a couple of years. During that time, we've had a ton of customers ask us about coming back out with the original version which had a stomp-switchable gain boost. While the current pinnacle and the original pinnacle 2 were 95% the same circuit-wise, some felt that there was a certain 'magic' to it. Since we've had so many requests for it, we decided to come out with a limited version of it complete with the gain boost stomp switch.
As far as the circuitry goes, they are 95% the same. This limited edition has a trim pot inside.
Another common question is about noise. This pedal has WAY more gain that a person is normally going to need. I find that with the gain boost engaged, the gain set at about half (12:00) is a very high gain setting. Increasing it above this adds a bit more gain, but also more noise. Very similar to a high gain tube amp. Much much more gain is available than your standard distortion pedal, which is why we have the gain boost switch.
*Boost switch alters gain structure to take it from overdrive to distortion.
*High gain, crunchy and dynamic pedal
*Extremely tweakable EQ
*Can do scooped mids to 'honky' mids to lofi.
*High boost switch for using with amps that are not very bright and sparkly clean.
*High grade film capacitors and resistors picked for their superior sound
*Completely true bypass
*Ultra-bright LEDs for ease of use
*Battery connection and 9v power jack (barrel plug like Boss)
*3.5" x 4.5"
*Powder coated durable finish
*Designed to get the best EVH "brown sound" possible within a pedal design
*Red Sparkle, white Knobs
*Jfet (mu-amp) type circuitry - solid state version of a tube amp
